Devices and App Store

Shadowrocket Purchase and First Launch

Shadowrocket is available only on the App Store. Before purchasing, verify the app identity and device compatibility, then import your existing subscription or server details after installation. Check the App Store listing for system requirements and purchase eligibility.

iPhone

Check compatibility and payment details in the App Store before purchasing. The first time you connect, iOS will ask to add a VPN configuration; verify that the request comes from Shadowrocket before allowing it. Installing the app does not provide server access—you still need to import your own connection details.

iPad

Use the Apple ID associated with the purchase to check your purchase history. Check the App Store listing for eligibility for Universal Purchase. A larger screen can make configuration fields easier to review, but purchase history and connection settings are separate; after moving to another device, check that your configuration is complete.

How to Spot a Counterfeit App

  • Lookalike IconA similar design or color scheme does not verify the app. Check the developer and App ID too.
  • Incorrect Developer NameIf the name does not match the listing details on the left, stop before purchasing and reopen the product page.
  • Incorrect App IDCheck for id932747118 in the product page URL. Do not rely on the order of search results.

Search results may include apps with the same or similar names. Open the product page, verify each detail, then confirm the price and device requirements. View the App Store steps →

Connections, Rules, and Configurations

Keep these three layers distinct: server details determine where the connection goes, Global Routing determines how traffic is routed, and rules in Config determine which policy a request matches. Change one layer at a time to make the results easier to assess.

Global Routing: Check the Mode First

Check Global Routing on Home. Config mode uses the rules in the active configuration to choose a route; Proxy mode sends eligible traffic through the selected proxy; Direct mode connects directly. For everyday rule-based routing, select Config and check which configuration is active. Temporarily switching modes can help isolate a rule issue, but it will not fix incorrect server settings. After connecting, verify which policy a request actually uses instead of assuming the toggle confirms the routing result.

FINAL,DIRECT

Protocol fields must match the details for your existing server. Shadowsocks, VMess, VLESS, Trojan, and other types use different parameters; copying only Host and Port does not make a configuration complete. To add a server manually, start with Add Server, check Type, then fill in authentication, transport, and other required options. After scanning a QR code, check that all fields were imported.

Data reflects traffic recorded by the client and should not be treated as a server-side billing report. iCloud sync can carry some settings between devices, but check the content and active status. For complete instructions, see Features and Settings and the Server Management Manual.

App Store and Purchase Details

App Purchase and Server Access

Shadowrocket is a closed-source commercial app. This official website and manual organize guidance around App Store details and in-app steps. Before getting started, distinguish three things: verifying the app, keeping your purchase record, and managing your own configuration.

App Store Availability and Account Region

App availability, displayed currency, and purchase conditions depend on the storefront and account. If you cannot find the app in search, check its App Store product page, your account region, and device compatibility before proceeding; do not rely on a similar name. Check the App Store listing for system requirements. Requirements can change, so this guide does not present them as fixed.

On the product page, check the developer, official icon, and App ID in the URL. The developer should be Shadow Launch Technology Limited, and the App ID should be 932747118. Assess all three details together; a similar icon or matching name alone is not enough to verify the app.

One-Time Purchase and Restoring Purchases

The US App Store reference price is $2.99 as a one-time purchase. Other storefronts display local currency; check the listed price before paying. The purchase covers use of the app, not access to a particular server. Check the App Store listing for Universal Purchase eligibility, device requirements, and other purchase conditions for iPhone and iPad.

When reinstalling or switching devices, use the Apple ID associated with the purchase to check your App Store purchase history. Purchase records can help you restore the app, but do not replace a personal configuration backup. App updates are also managed through the App Store. Keep important configurations before updating, then check the active mode, selected server, and rules file afterward.

From Import to Your First Connection

Once you have your own connection details, import a subscription through Subscribe or enter a single server manually using Add Server. If you have a QR code, use Scan QR Code. After importing, check the server type and required fields, then select an entry to test. Do not include links containing credentials in public screenshots or posts.

Next, check Global Routing. For rule-based routing, select Config and confirm the active configuration. Turn on the connection switch on Home and allow Shadowrocket to add a VPN configuration when prompted by the system. Finally, visit a target website and verify the result. A system connection indicator only shows that a connection is established; it does not confirm website access or a rule match.

Connection Troubleshooting: Keep a Clear Order

First, turn off the connection and confirm that your basic network access works. Then check that your subscription or server details are complete. Next, verify the selected entry, authentication fields, Global Routing, and active configuration. If only some websites have issues, investigate DNS and rules first. If every target fails, start by checking the connection itself.

When troubleshooting, do not change servers, edit protocol settings, and rewrite rules all at once. Keep the original configuration, change one condition at a time, and note what happens before and after. For step-by-step instructions, follow the User Guide. For managing multiple subscriptions, updates, and backups, see the relevant sections in Server Management.

Frequently Asked Questions

After importing an existing subscription, do I still need to select Config?

A subscription mainly provides a server list; Config manages rules and other settings. For rule-based routing, check that Global Routing is set to Config and confirm which file is active. These settings serve different purposes and cannot replace each other.

Why are websites still slow when the latency test is low?

The test target, your current network, server load, and the website's response all affect the experience. Compare results under the same network conditions, then check access to the target website instead of relying on a single test number.

Where should I look if the connection resumes after I disconnect manually?

First, check On Demand in Settings. If connection triggers are configured, the system may reconnect. After changing them, test what happens when switching networks before deciding whether to adjust anything else.

Will the app and my configuration both be restored when I switch devices?

App purchase history and personal configurations are managed separately. Restore the app from your App Store purchase history, then check the actual results of your backup or iCloud sync. Confirm your current servers, rules file, and authorization status.
